Announcements

  • Final Grades
    • There are three persons whom I thought have dropped from the class. However, their name are still on the list. Since there are only few scores in their records, I'm forced to give them "F". So, the class GPA average is much lower than what I expected.
    • Without those three, the class average is about 2.5-2.6.
    • One person was moved up from B+ to A. So,  there are three persons who get A.
    • Two persons were moved up from C+ to B.
    • Six persons were moved up from F to D/D+.
    • The final grade for everyone else were moved up accordingly.
    • I believe there is still one person who have to take a make-up final exam. Permission from the director is required.
    • There are a few problems that prevent me from giving higher grades than what they currently are. So, this is the best I can do.
  • There is one quiz 2 with no name. Please take a look at this scanned page and see whether it is yours.
  • I will be in the ETU office (1st floor, Rangsit campus) from 9-11 AM on Wednesday morning. Please come and chat if you have any concern/question about the final exam.
  • The final exam is on Wednesday (May 20, 2009) from 13:30 to 16:30. We will be in room RS401 and RS402.
    • Including this cover page, the exam has 9 pages.  It has 13 questions.
    • The exam is cumulative but the main topics will be those presented during the second part of the course. You will need to use some techniques/concepts from the material before the midterm to solve the some of the questions.
    • Focus on your lecture notes and HW (up to HW6).

  • HW1 solution is available.[Posted @ 11PM on Apr 18]
  • HW2 cancelled: To make sure that everyone has a chance to see the solution of HW2 before the midterm, I decided that you don't have to submit HW2. However, I still strongly recommend that you work on it before the exam. The solution is posted below. [Posted @ 5PM on Apr 17]
  • New version of HW2 posted: The last question on the HW2 that was posted earlier is about the chain rule which we haven't talked about in class yet. Therefore, I take that problem out and post a new version of HW2.
  • A popup message on the school web site says "SIIT will resume normal operation on Thursday April 16, 2009"  So, it seems that classes will run normally on Thursday (Apr 16) and Friday (Apr 17). Therefore, we will still have our review session this Friday (Apr 17).
  • Urgent News: No class this Friday (Apr 10). HW1 due date is changed to Apr 16 (Thursday). HW2 due date is changed to Apr 24 (after the midterm). Note that the questions in both homework sets are good examples for the midterm exam questions.  So, make sure that you work on them before the midterm.
  • We will have a review session on Apr 17 (Friday).
    • This informal session is optional (which means no attendance check and no quiz.) No new material will be presented.
    • I want to answer as many questions as I can during this session. So come with questions.
    • If there is no conflict, we will have this review session in the usual room (RS411) starting at 1:30 PM.
